February 5, 2007 Industry veteran George G. Smith III joins SensiGen as Senior Vice President, Corporate Development SensiGen LLC, an Ann Arbor, Michigan biotechnology company focused on developing proprietary gene-based molecular diagnostics announced today the appointment of George G. Smith III to the post of Senior Vice President for Corporate Development. Mr. Smith will report directly to Shawn M. Marcell, President and Chief Executive Officer of SensiGen. Mr. Smith comes to SensiGen after a 20 year career at Accenture, where he was the partner in charge of the North American strategy consulting division of the firm's $500 million Life Sciences practice. Mr. Smith brings to SensiGen more than 25 years experience in developing business and product strategies for major global pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical products companies. "George's extensive strategic planning and product commercialization experience across all aspects of the Life Sciences industry will be of great value as we bring our products to market in the coming months," comments Mr. Marcell. Most recently, Mr. Smith was a senior executive at Philadelphia's University City Science Center ("Science Center") in Philadelphia where he was responsible for helping start-up companies develop business plans and product commercialization strategies. He will continue to act as an advisor to the Science Center and its portfolio companies on a part-time basis.
